City of San Diego Budget for Qualcomm Stadium

August 11, 2012

For those brave enough to ask, I thought I should actually post a link to the city of San Diego’s recent budgets for Qualcomm Stadium.  Here’s the thing, I’m not an accountant, so it’s way beyond my expertise to interpret all this.  But I’ll keep it short and give  a few items to help if you feel like looking…

First, here’s the budget link.

The little note “FY” just means Fiscal Year.  Most of us do our personal taxes and budgeting (hopefully) on a calendar year from January 1st until we’ve blown the last of that money at some overpriced New Year’s Eve Party.  The gub’ment does things a little differently, for example the Feds start their fiscal year on October 1st every year to give a little more time to argue, I guess.  And for San Diego, it’s actually from July 1st to June 30th.  I know, it didn’t make sense to me, either, so I looked it up but couldn’t find anything.  If you know, please share.  The fiscal year is important for you because if you want that fire station built, you better start rallying the troops in the fall for the next year.  Go ahead and call your City Council office for more info, here’s the link for San Diego.

Also, I tried to find a direct point of contact at the City in case you had questions about the budget above.  I couldn’t find someone easily, but there’s a guy on the Mayor’s staff named Almis Udrys who should be able to help.  His email is AUdrys@sandiego.gov
